
Qualification requirements
The University of Loyola at CNMI’s application process allows students to express their personalities, interests and abilities, as well as demonstrate their academic accomplishments.
It looks for evidence that applicants are aware of the needs of others, able to express commitment and high values, and display good academic skills. It is devoted to selecting a class of capable, multi-talented people who will be able to work well together as they embark on laying the groundwork to become active and important leaders in their fields of study.
The university is open to students who meet its academic standards and are willing to abide by its rules and ideals. The university sets criteria to ensure that the school accepts only those applicants who will benefit the most from a University of Loyola education.
* Applicants to the University of Loyola at CNMI’s medical school must have a bachelor’s degree from an approved program, good letters of recommendation, undergo an interview process, and take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
* Applicants to the university’s pharmacy school must have a bachelor’s degree from an approved program, good letters of recommendation, undergo an interview process, and take the pharmacy entrance examination.
* Applicants to the nursing school must have a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) diploma, good letters of recommendation, undergo an interview process, and take the nursing entrance examination.
* Applicants to the business school must have a high school diploma or GED, good letters of recommendation, undergo an interview process, and take the business school entrance examination.
Students must pass all courses prescribed for the degree program and fulfill all financial requirements prior to graduating.
Upon final evaluation, students should be prepared for the following in their respective fields: passing the United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) and eligibility for residency positions for the doctor of medicine degree, passing the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) for the doctor of pharmacy degree, passing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for the nursing degree.
Students of all disciplines of study, including business, should be prepared and eligible for entry-level positions in their fields.
CNMI immigration requirements
In addition to the qualification requirements and travel documents like valid passport, foreign students must also meet the following immigration qualifications and requirements for entry into the CNMI, pursuant to Section 706(H) of the CNMI Immigration Regulations:
1. A complete notarized application
2. Passport size photograph
3. Birth certificate
4. Police clearance
5. Health certificate
6. Proof of enrollment on a full-time basis
7. Payment of tuition
8. Payment of the application fee ($100)
Admission of transferees
Admission of transferees is limited only to those seeking enlistment in the first and second year of his/her desired course. To qualify for admission, the transferee applicant:
1. Must come from Level II Accredited schools;
2. Should not have a failing grade in any subject(s) credited in the academic program he/she is enrolling in the University of Loyola;
3. Should have a weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) not lower that 2.50 counting all the subjects taken in the school(s) he/she was previously enrolled in, and which subjects are to be credited in the academic program he/she is enlisting;
4. Willing to repeat all subjects with grades below 2.50
5. Should not have withdrawn, nor should he/she have an incomplete grade in more than one (1) subject per semester in the school he/she was previously enrolled;
6. Who has completed his/her first year college in another school but would not otherwise qualify for admission in the University of Loyola as a transferee for reason(s) mentioned above, may be allowed to enroll as a first year student again, provided he/she signs an affidavit waiving any and all credits earned in the school he/she came from. However, failing or dropped/withdrawn marks should not exceed three (3) subjects;
7. Should have passed the initial interview and evaluation of credentials to determine qualification for entrance examination;
8. Should not have enrolled in two or more colleges or universities;
9. Should have passed the SBC Entrance Test and interviews conducted by the College of Nursing Admissions Committee; and
10. Should submit all other requirements as may be deemed necessary by the Admissions Committee.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Each applicant is requested to undergo the following process:
STEP 1: Register for Entrance Examination and secure application form at the Office of the Guidance Office.
STEP 2: Proceed to the Accounting Office and pay the entrance examination fee.
STEP 3: Take the Entrance Exam as scheduled. Please come at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. DON'T FORGET to bring your Exam Permit, two pencils, and School I.D.
STEP 4: Get the test results on the date announced by the Examiner. Please present Exam Permit in getting your results.
The College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) is the entrance exam for new high school graduates. A General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) of 60 percent serves as the cut-off point. Those who have taken the College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT), an equivalent test, in other schools can just present the original printout copy at the College of Nursing Admission Office.
STEP 5: If tests results are satisfactory, get the schedule of interview. Passing the entrance exam is not the only criterion for admission. Other factors include high school grades, interview performance, good moral character, pleasing personality, physical fitness and availability of slot, etc.
STEP 6: Present yourself for the interview to be conducted by the College of Nursing Guidance Counselor and faculty members: Please come in proper attire. Some applicants may undergo more than one interview as may be deemed necessary by the university.
STEP 7: Get the decision of the College of Nursing Admission Committee on the assigned date, time and room relayed by the interviewer.
* If applicant is accepted, he/she is requested to submit all the requirements before enrollment.
* If rejected, submitted credentials (NSAT) (HS Card, Birth Certificate, etc.) are returned.
* Those who intend to withdraw their application are requested to submit a letter of request for withdrawal of credentials. Credentials will be released two days AFTER receipt of the request letter.
STEP 8: Come promptly during your scheduled enrollment. Don’t forget to bring all enrolment credentials and other requirements.
STEP 9: Be reminded of the schedule of your Freshmen Orientation Day and the opening of classes.
