The Northern Mariana Islands, officially the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), is a commonwealth in political union with the United States located at a strategic location in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of 14 islands.

The CNMI is approximately 1,458 miles southeast of Tokyo, Japan; 1,654 miles east of Manila, Philippines; 1,703 east of Taipei, Taiwan; 1,900 miles southeast of Hong Kong; 2,200 miles southeast of Seoul, Korea; 2,900 miles north of Sydney, Australia; and 3,200 miles west of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Administration

The University of Loyola at CNMI is governed by a five-member board, and a chief executive officer, Johnny Y. Fong, M.D.

Dr. Johnny Fong is the co-founder of the San Beda College of Medicine in 2002 in the Philippines, the San Beda College of Nursing in 2004, and St. Ignatius Health Science College also in the Philippines. He has been an assistant dean of the College of Medicine, the developer of the curriculum, professor, and chairman of the board of the Loyola Medical College Foundation since 2001.

Dr. Johnny Y. Fong is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. He specialized in pediatrics at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He is a licensed physician in California, Illinois and the Philippines. He has been in practice in the U.S. since 1972.
